A pair of Victorian silver photograph frames by William Comyns, London 1894, of arched rectangular form with pierced figural, birds and putti in a foliate surround, surmounted by a heart-shaped cartouche, glazed central aperture with green silk lining, hardwood easel stand, each 22.8cm high (at fault)

More Information

Please note: The easel backs are thought to be later then the frames themselves - they appear to have been made to fit the frame dimensions, however do not sit properly in the frame brackets. The easels are slim and slightly too small, meaning the glass/silk lining (which are also thought to be later) 'rattle' slightly in their settings and the frames are not very stable when they stand, slipping frequently.

The frames themselves are in good order. Some areas of slight thinning around the edges, some minor misshaping, general scratching and wear. No obvious areas of splitting, repair or major damage to the frames.

The frame brackets are split around the edges, and quite misshapen in places - some repair may be required. Please see pictures for further illustration.

Glass in both examples in good order, some chips and nibbles around the edges, but no cracks or damage visible in the aperture of the frame. Silk lining in good order, some fraying around the edges, but the silk visible in the aperture in in good order.
