A ruby and diamond cluster ring, the central rectangular cushion cut ruby (measuring 8.2 x 6.6 x 4.0mm, calculated weight 2.06 carats), with a surround of ten tapered baguette cut diamonds and six round brilliant cut diamonds, all set in 14ct yellow gold to a plain polished shank, ring size N, weight 3.30gms.
With accompanying report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory no. 19862 stating that the carat weight is 2.06ct, that the stone is a natural ruby, and that no evidence of heat treatment was observed.
More Information
Viewed in daylight, the ruby appears red with a deep pink draw. There are inclusions in the table and facet edges. The inclusions are of several types, including flat, translucent and reflective, opaque, light brown colour, crystals and needles. These are visible with a 10x lens, but less so with the naked eye. There is a surface reaching fracture, stemming from around one of the claws, running into and along the edge table facet. There is also a surface reaching fracture near the same claw, running down the long side of the stone across the outer facets. Both appear as a hairline fracture under reflected light at 10x, and run parallel to inclusions within the stone. No other chips, losses or damage to the central stone.
We are unable to provide accurate colour and clarity grades for the diamonds stones due to their settings, however under 10x the clarity varies from approximately VS - SI. A few have visible inclusions under 10x - these are colourless. None of the inclusions are visible with the naked eye. Face up, all diamonds appear, white bright and sparkly. Colour across stones is estimated to be no less then I/J.
All stones are present and the settings are secure. The shank is in good order, no splitting, repair or resizing.
