A set of twenty-four Victorian silver dessert knives and forks, Martin, Hall & Co, Sheffield 1867, comprising twelve knives and twelve forks, each with Sandringham pattern weighted handles with thread and beaded borders, engine turned detail and shield cartouches with monogrammed initial 'V', silver blades and tined with chased scrolling detail, forks 17.5cm long, knives 22cm long (24)

Forks are largely in good order. Some show minor gapping, or are slightly off centre between the handles and the tines. Some of the tines are slightly wobbly in their setting. Tines show minor to moderate bending/misshaping (see pictures for most obvious). Tines show general scratching and wear throughout. Moderate denting, scratching and wear throughout the handles, particularly to the sides. Some loss of definition to the engine turned detail and heavy wear to the hallmarks on the collar. Hallmarks to tine are largely in good order.
Knives: Moderate scratching and wear to the blades, mostly concentrated around the tips. Engraved detail is in good order. Some denting, scratching and wear throughout the handles, particularly to the sides. Some minor loss of definition to the engine turned detail and heavy wear to the hallmarks on the collar. Hallmarks to blades in good order.
