A Highland Basket-hilted broadsword, second quarter 18th century, with broad blade cut with a series of narrow fullers, iron basket-guard, the shields of the knuckle-guard and side-guards pierced with a sparing pattern of hearts and small circular holes, the heart motifs notably outwardly pointed, with conical pommel and leather-covered grip (oxidised and rusted throughout, the bars of the guard incomplete, the basket-guard now a poor fit, grip replaced), blade length 86cm
