Fees

A KPM tile and ebonised ladies toilet box circa 1860, the serpentine outlined hinged cover inset with a KPM tile depicting a courting couple, opening to a compartmented interior inset with conforming plaques, all over a single drawer, applied with beaded gilt metal detail, 19cm H x 50cm W x 42cm

More Information

The box appears to be structurally sound, showing the odd small dent and scuff, and light wear to the ebonised finish. The lower drawer handle shows more extensive wear to the top surface. The brass details all show wear and tarnish to the surface finish. Both front corners are lacking sections of brass beading. The tiles all show rubbing to the gilt highlights but no obvious chips or cracks. Two of the tile compartment covers are lacking handles, and the handle of the remaining cover may be a later replacement. The central hinged compartment cover tile has impressed KPM makers mark verso.
