A North Italian Morion of ‘Spanish’ form, late 16th century, of one-piece construction, the skull characteristically almond-shaped, with a residual stalk finial at the apex, narrow brim struck with a mark, perhaps the so-called ‘Barberini’ mark, the base of the skull encircled by lining rivets on brass rosette washers, and the brim with turned edge, internal 18cm W x 21.5cm D, external 23cm W x 26.5cm D, 19cm H overall (at fault)
