An Art Deco Daum Nancy baluster vase, early 20th century, the body deeply wheel cut and etched with an all over stylised foliate design, acid etched maker's mark to foot rim, 35cm high, with a later lamp insert

More Information

The lamp insert is a stand-alone fitting, and the vase has not been drilled or altered in any way to accommodate it. The insert has caused some surface wear to the rim of the vase. The foliate design shows a flaked loss to one leaf approximately 6mm wide with another 3mm loss immediately next to it. The edges of the foliate design are sharply but unevenly cut, and it is difficult to differentiate between wheel cut edges and later chips and nibbles. There are several areas of blue residue across the piece, and several areas of white residue. The piece is dirty and would benefit from cleaning.
