A Roman marble stele carved in high relief with the 'Thracian horseman', the remains of what is likely the running hound in front of the rider’s foot, circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D., 16.5cm x 13.5cm (at fault)

Provenance: Ex Alison Barker (1951-2021) Collection, Chichester, West Sussex.

More Information

Chips, nibbles and abrasions to the highpoints, some loss of definition to the figures. General scratching, wear and tear commensurate with age. There appears to be pink-orange staining or discolouration around the base and the front leg of the horse. This piece has been attached to a later marble fragment base with an adhesive putty, with glue residue between the putty and the stele. Please view additional pictures.
