Fees

An Italian novelty brooch by Cellino, modelled as a frog with ruby set eyes, sat upon a carved nephrite jade leaf, hinged pin and safety loop fastening to reverse, stamped ‘14K’ and ‘Cellino’, 5.1cm long, weight 8.8gms

More Information

There are several chips and losses to the tip of the jadeite serrated leaf border. There is scratching and wear throughout, commensurate with age and use. The frog is attached to the stem/brooch fitting through a drill hole in the leaf - both are loose, wobbling slightly about the joint. The frog and brooch back are in good order, showing general scratching and wear, but no major thinning, splitting or repair. The brooch pin and catch are in good order, opens easily and closes securely. Both rubies show moderate scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. There is a midsized fracture to one of the ruby eyes of the frog. The settings are the eyes show moderate wear, but the stones appear secure.
