A Staffordshire pearlware Toby Jug, circa 1790, of traditional form modelled holding a jug in both hands, a pipe leaning against the chair leg to his right, his frock coat washed in grey, with green waistcoat, yellow breeches, the handle and rear part of the chair picked out in green, all upon a canted square base, 23.5cm high (at fault)

The piece shows evidence of restoration to the hat and boots, and possible restoration to the held jug. There are firing cracks to the handle, the left sleeve, the legs where they join the seat, the interior of the handle, and the handle of the held jug. There is the odd firing pit and frit, and various small glazing faults to the surface. The piece shows surface crazing throughout, including craze lines to the handle which run around the exterior to the interior.
