An early Irish silver sugar caster (marks worn), of typical baluster form on domed circular foot with pierced pull-off cover, 13.5cm high, together with an Edwardian silver sugar caster by Charles Stuart Harris, London 1902, 11.5cm high (2)

Irish example: Heavy denting to the pierced cover. Moderate splitting to the pierced decoration (please see pictures for the largest split). Cover shows moderate scratching and wear. Cover sits flush to the body.

Moderate denting to the body. Splitting is visible around the waist of the body (see pictures for illustration). Possible signs of repair around the foot. Moderate scratching and wear.

Hallmarks to the body are very heavily worn, and there are no visible hallmarks to the cover.

London example: Some light denting to cover. Some slight thinning around the piercing, but no signs of splitting or repair. Cover sits flush to the body. Moderate denting, scratching and wear to the body, but no signs of splitting or repair. Some wear to hallmarks, but they are legible and clear.
