More Information
The paint surface shows no obvious craquelure. The canvas in the top left and right corners shows a slight diagonal ripple. Examination under UV shows evidence of re-varnishing. There are various small spots of dirt and residue across the surface, and the picture would therefore benefit from cleaning. The frame appears to be structurally sound, but shows some rubbing and wear to the gilt finish, with the odd loss to the moulded details. The gilt finish appears to be original, however the vendor does not discount the possibility that it may have been re-gilded at some point in the past.
Overall dimensions of frame: 142.5cm x 117cm
