A pair of George III silver mounted bottle coasters, William Allen III, London 1802, each of circular form with turned circular walnut bases, wirework borders, central cartouche engraved with a heraldic shield and crest, depicting a hand pointing to a star, each 13.6cm wide (2)

Central panel shows moderate scratching commensurate with age and use, but no major dents, splits or signs of repair. The engravings are crisp and clear. One example shows three hairline cracks, two of which run through to the base. The same example shows a chip to the turned detail (see pictures). Both examples shows heavy surface scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. There is denting and general wear to the silver borders on both examples, commensurate with age and use, mostly concentrated around the base, however there are no signs of repair. The example with hairline cracks shows some minor splitting around the wirework, and some minor chips around the felt base. The other example shows several chips around the felt base, and some gapping between the silver collar and base. Both example show moderate wear to the felt. See pictures for illustration.
