A Victorian ruby and diamond 18ct gold ring, the lozenge shaped head set with two mixed cut rubies, with four rose cut diamonds to each side, and a further mixed cut ruby to each shoulder, head measuring 13.8mm x 7.4mm, continuing to a plain polished 18ct gold shank, marks for ‘H&S’, Birmingham 1872, ring size P, weight 2.3gms

The rubies show some minor chips, nibbling around the girdles, and general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Several of the diamonds show flat, textured surfaces, most of which appear to be naturals, but some may be fractures. A few of the diamonds show minor chips or nibbles, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Stones would benefit from professional cleaning. Settings show moderate wear and losses, but stones appear secure, retouching may be required in some places. Some minor signs of thinning and a patch of possible repair to the gallery. Shank shows some thinning, but no splitting or signs of repair. Moderate wear to the hallmarks. See pictures for illustration.
