A harlequin set of sixteen George IV style mahogany dining chairs, by Maple & Co, circa 1925, each with a concave top rail, moulded with channelled and scrolled detail, above an interlaced rail and a green Regency stripe stuff-over seat, raised upon sabre legs, to include two carver chairs, 85cm high, metal makers label to the underside of three chairs, all chairs with later blocks to the underside (16) (at fault)

PROVENANCE; by repute the chairs were made for LLoyds Bank, India Building, Liverpool, circa 1925

More Information

All chairs have later blocks added to the underside of the seats, indicating that all have undergone some level of restoration.
One chair has a damaged back rail (see additional image).
All chairs have extensive scuffs and marks to the legs with some showing discolouration and light blistering to the finish.
Chairs appear firm with little or no play in the joints.
