The painting appears to have been subject to heat at some point in the past, causing areas of the varnish to melt and shrink back across the paint surface, particularly on the left hand side (see photos). The paint surface shows some losses and disruption as a result, and craquelure to the remaining areas. The frame appears to be structurally sound, but shows wear to the gilt finish and cracking and the odd small loss to the moulded details.
