A pair of George III silver candlesticks, John Hyatt & Charles Semore, London 1760, each with knopped step on hexafoil foot with embossed acanthus detail, detachable drip pans (unmarked), each approx. 23cm high, gross weight 35.04ozt

More Information

Both examples have applied pads to the bases (see pictures for illustration). Both examples wobble slightly on a level surface. Bases are in good order, no large or obvious dents or repairs, both show some minor splits, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. The stems are largely in good order - there are some areas that differ in colour and texture slightly, possibly indicating a casting fault which has then been filled (see pictures). Stems show some small dents, pin prick marks, general scratching and wear throughout. Both sconces are dented (see pictures), and this seems as though one drip pan doesn't sit flush in the sconce as a result (see pictures). Drip pans are in good order, some light denting, but no signs of splitting, major damage or repair.
