More Information
The volume shows wear to the leather binding throughout. There is a 2cm worn tear to the base of the spine, with a further 1cm long triangular wear hole 1cm from the top of the spine. The right edge of the spine shops later stitches and what appears to be a worn through stitch hole. Bumps, shelf and pocket wear to all corners and edges, including and open frayed lower front corner and lower edge wear holes. The clasp is functional. There is evidence of a lower clasp which is no longer present. All pages show some darkening, wear and the odd small tear to the edges and corners. The first front endpaper may have been later pasted in.
13 leaves of blank and inscribed front endpapers, red and black printed title page, 11 text pages ending 'January hath xxxi days', inscribed leaf, 'Observations on January', 'February hath xxviii days', inscribed leaf, [pattern continues until 'Observations on June', 'July hath xxxi days', two inscribed leaves, then resumes with one leaf between until 'Observations on December'], 13 text pages to 'Finis', 30 leaves of blank and inscribed rear endpapers. Catches (where present) appear to run correctly. 48 printed pages (24 leaves) total including title page.
