A Victorian silver mounted stoneware beer jug, of baluster form with simple loop handle and hinged cover, decorated with rural scenes, hallmarks to mount for Jehoiada Alsop Rhodes, Sheffield 1876, inscribed with retailers mark 'Leuchars & Son, Piccadilly London & 2 Rue De La Paix Paris', 21.5cm high

More Information

Some small dents to the cover. General scratching and wear to cover. Hinge is slightly loose, and cover does wobble slightly. It opens smoothly, but does not sit completely flush, leaving a small gap. There is heavy wear to the lip around the rim where the cover has been in contact with it. Hallmarks and lettering to the rim and clear. There are some chips, losses and cracks to the applied relief moulded decoration. There are a number of cracks to the base, but none appear to run through to the inside of the jug.
