Fees

A carved alabaster panel fragment, modelled in the 15th century Nottingham manner with a high relief figural group depicting the crucifixion, traces of polychrome detail, 31cm high, set to an acrylic stand, 40cm high overall (at fault)

More Information

This fragment is heavily worn, many features of the figures and surround have lost definition and show heavy scratching and crazing. Possible fracture and repair to the arm of the Christ figure. Possible signs of later restoration and repair in several places, most notably the eyes of the figures. Discoloration and dirt build up in the crevices of the surface. Piece would benefit from professional cleaning. Possible signs of earlier mounting to reverse. The fragment is set to an acrylic stand, but is not secure - it wobbles slightly and does rotate about 90 degrees. See pictures for further illustration.
