Fees

A Victorian and later garnet and diamond brooch, comprising three oval mixed cut garnets, interspersed by single cut diamonds, all set in yellow metal, head measuring 19mm x 21.5mm, set to later tapering gold coloured bar, hinged pin and safety loop fastening to reverse, 63mm long, weight 6.3gms

More Information

Some minor chips and nibbles to facet edges and girdles of the garnets, moderate scratching and wear throughout. There is a slight rattle, indicating that at least one garnet may be slightly loose, however they appear secure, and the claws may just require slight tightening. All diamonds are present and in good order, showing scratching and wear, and one showing a natural, but no large cracks, chips or losses. There is some piercing to the mount which can be seen in images three, four and five. The brooch mount is in good order, showing scratching and wear but no major thinning, splitting or repair. Pin and hook in working order, though safety catch does appear slightly loose.
