Fees

An Empire ormolu shaving or dressing table mirror, early 19th century, the circular frame surmounted with a relief moulded floral and foliate basket, the stand with ovoid and urn form knops, set to a stepped square base, 40cm high

More Information

The piece shows age-related speckling to the mirror plate, tarnishing to the metal finish, and a fracture to the relief cast decoration of the base. The relief cast decoration appears to have been rubbed away on an area of the surround positioned at 4 o'clock. The support loop leans back slightly and is somewhat distorted. The mirror catches the loop when rotated, but the clearance would be tight even if the loop were not distorted. It may be the case that some elements have been later constructed.
