Margaret Charman (British, b.1941), "Terry", a glazed pottery bust of small proportions modelled as a man in a collared coat, painted monogram to base, 15.5cm high, with a pottery model of a standing lion, incised monogram to base, 8.5cm high, and a pottery stem vase, of ovoid form with sgraffito decoration over a mottled green and brown ground, 14.5cm high (3)

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE: Margaret Charman studied at St Martin's and The Courtauld Institute, and from 1971 lectured at Havering College, becoming Head of Art and Craft from 1974 to 1980. She became Head of Art and Design at Wirral College of Art and Design from 1980 to 1982, and then Head of the Cheshire School of Art and Design from 1982 to 1992. She has exhibited widely in South Africa and the UK, and her work is held in private collections around the world.
