A pair of silver coloured William & Mary commemorative plaques, 18th Century, depicting repoussé profile busts of each monarch, with Latin inscription surround, each approximately 9cm x 7.5cm, in ebonised wooden frames (at fault) (2)

More Information

Both plaques show heavy wear and tarnish. Both examples show denting, thinning and splitting, concentrated to the highpoints and around the edges of the plaques, the William example showing more splitting then the Mary. There is moderate to heavy loss of definition to the lettering and profile of the William example, with some of the letters on the border no longer legible. The Mary example shows some loss of definition, but is largely still clear and legible. The Mary example is taped into it's frame, and is removable - there appears to be a possible patch of repair behind the face (pictured). The William example is secured into the frame by nails, and cannot be removed. Both frames show heavy scratching and wear, but no splits or signs of repair. Please refer to the additional images for further illustration.
