A collection of riddles handwritten on laid paper, probably early 19th century, examples to include Q: "When may a man be said to follow a lofty pursuit", A: "When he is out on a lark", and Q: "When is love a deformity", A: "When it is all on one side", with a further collection of handwritten riddles on a series of oval cards joined by black ribbon, all to a black edged envelope, and a box containing hand written cards which appear to be part of a game telling the story of Rome (2)
More Information
The riddles show signs of wear commensurate with age and use, one black ribbon joint is broken. The cards show tears at the folds, but no other damage.
