An Italian majolica charger, 19th century, decorated in typical colours with a profile portrait against a washed blue ground and within a decorative border of arabesques and lozenges, 37cm diameter (at fault)

Large, curved glazing fault to the centre of the charger, running across the body of the figure, approximately 11cm long (please see pictures for illustration). Two further glazing faults, one to the bowl and to the rim (see pictures). Bowl and border show pits and frits to the glazing throughout. Heavy wear to the glazing on the rim. Charger shows several marks and areas of tarnish, and would benefit from professional cleaning. Several large chips to the foot of the bowl. Several firing and glazing faults to reverse (see pictures). No cracks or signs of repair. The charger is on a wired hanging support.
