£3,000
An Aynsley tea service, early 20th century, each piece decorated with a stylised flower against a green ground and shaped gilt rims, the teacups with handles modelled as butterflies, comprising: ten teacups, ten saucers, ten side plates and a cake plate, green printed "Aynsley, England", Reg. No 767013, and red painted B1322 W to base (31) (at fault)
More Information
All pieces show fine surface wear, fine surface scratches and rubbing to the gilt highlights. The saucers show more obvious scratching to the wells. One saucer shows a hairline crack running from the rim to the well, and one side plate shows a small chip to the foot rim. The cake plate shows some yellow staining to the underside. The cups show no visible evidence of cracks, but some ring a bit flat when pinged. Several pieces show the odd small pit or frit, the odd small glazing or gilding fault, and the odd small surface mark.
