William Needham example: Small dent to the tip of the blade. General scratching and wear to blade. No cracks, chips or losses to the mother of pearl handle. General scratching and wear throughout.

Thomas Marples example: Heavy wear/loss to the end of the blade. Some light bending to the blade. Heavy scratching and wear to the blade. Handle shows moderate scratching and wear, and requires cleaning,
but no large cracks, chips of losses.

John Yeomans Cowlishaw example: Moderate wear to the blade around the tip and edge. Some light bending/misshaping. General scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Handle shows moderate scratching and wear, but no large cracks, chips of losses.

Francis Howard example: General wear and minor loss to the tip of the blade, heavy scratching and wear. No obvious bending or misshaping. Blade does no sit flush when folded (see pictures). Handle shows moderate scratching and wear, but no large cracks, chips of losses.

H&F example: Some light denting to the tip. Thinning around the edge. Moderate scratching and wear. Some bending/denting to blade. Handle shows moderate scratching and wear, but no large cracks, chips of losses.

Villiers & Jackson example: Some thinning and minor loss to the blade. General scratching and wear throughout commensurate with age and use. Handle shows moderate scratching and wear, but no large cracks, chips of losses.

Second William Needham example: Some bending and misshaping to the tip. Some light bending to the blade. Moderate scratching and wear throughout. Handle shows moderate scratching and wear, but no large cracks, chips of losses.
