A late 17th century/early 18th century carved oak coffer, the three panel cover opening to a fitted candle box, above a frieze carved with interlaced flower heads, over three panels each carved with a lozenge, the middle lozenge centred with a bushel, with conforming panels to the sides, raised upon stile feet, 62cm H x 112cm W x 53cm D

The piece shows surface wear including scuffs, dents, small losses, small gouges and colour variation throughout. Evidence of historic worm activity, particularly noticeable in the base boards, candle box lid and adjoining side panel and around central lid panel. Repair to back rail of lid to support central panel, staining below this. Candle box cover present but box largely missing. Stratches to left hand front edge. Rot and worm damage to legs commensurate with age and use.
