More Information

Necklace: All stones are present. All show some degree of wear and abrasion ranging from minor to moderate - most of this is concentrated to the facet edges. The two gemstones furthest left have internal cracks which run from the inside to the surface. The sapphire pictured right of the central zircon on the necklace has a fracture on the reverse facets, which is visible with the naked eye through the stone. Some stones have small chips to the girdles and facet edges. All claws show some degree of wear, varying from minor to heavy. Some re-tipping may be required. There is varying degrees of thinning and denting to some of the settings, and a few settings show small signs of splitting. Moderate denting and wear to the chain links. Claw link and safety chain appears to be a later addition and is in working order.

Bracelet: All stones are present. All show some degree of wear and abrasion ranging from minor to moderate - most of this is concentrated to the facet edges. Stone pictured fifth from left and stone pictured first on the right have cracks which run from the inside to the surface. Some stones have small chips to the girdles and facet edges. All claws show some degree of wear, varying from minor to heavy. Some re-tipping may be required. Some thinning and minor splitting is visible to the sides of the gemstone settings. Chain in good order. Barrel snap clasp is stiff, but closes securely.

PLEASE NOTE: Both the necklace and bracelet are set in yellow metal. There are no marks to the chain or clasps on the bracelet or the necklace, and neither have been tested.

The bracelet and necklace are each set to different chains and settings. This could indicate that the stones were removed from a larger original suite and re-fashioned by different hands at a later date. The necklace is set to a belcher link chain, which has a more yellow hue, and has a later attached spring ring fastener which is a more rose hue. The bracelet is set to a curb-link chain with a barrel clasp that appears to be original to the bracelet, and is set to a less vibrant yellow metal then that of the necklace.

Please note that the blue stone in the bracelet (pictured fifth from the right) tests as a spinel, not a sapphire. It's measurements are 9.28mm x 6.95mm x 4.69mm.

There is one stone in the bracelet testing as spinel (fifth from the right) and one in the necklace (third from right).

Please note that exact identities can not be provided for all the gemstones - some sizes and cuts mean that we cannot get an accurate reading.

The blue sapphire on the necklace has a small nibble to one of the edges of the table facet, and a more sizable fracture on the reverse, which can be seen with the naked eye. There is also translucent needles running through the sapphire, visible under 10x.

All gemstones show some degree of inclusion - the clarity of the gemstones varies from slightly included to moderately included. In the necklace, about half of the stones show inclusions visible with the naked eye. In the bracelet, four stones show inclusions visible to the naked eye.
